Alesha Dixon was born on 7th October 1978 in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire to an English mother and African father. Alesha’s career began in 2001 when her group Mis-Teeq arrived on the scene. 2001 saw Mis-Teeq leap into the UK charts at number 8 with their track ‘Why?’, which was such a success they became known as the UK’s best garage/R ’n’ B girl group. The beginning of 2005 saw the end of Mis-Teeq and the start of Alesha’s solo career, releasing the singles 'Lipstick' and 'Knockdown'.
